A Jacaranda tree in bloom, Los Angeles County, California
Jacaranda (Bignoniaceae) is native to tropical and subtropical regions of Central America, South America, Cuba, Jamaica and the Bahamas. It has been planted widely in tropical/subtropical regions of Asia, South Africa, Australia, and California. Here in southern California, the beautiful purple/lavender flowers appear in spring and last until mid-late summer. They are a visual delight!
