Description
Wildflowers and Fence Post, Kern County, California, in early spring. The tiny pinkish-purple wildflowers are Red Stem Filaree (Erodium cicatarium).
Redstem filaree, common stork's-bill or pinweed, is a herbaceous annual (biennial in warm climates). It is native to the Mediterranean Basin and was introduced to North America in the eighteenth century, where it has since become invasive, particularly in the deserts and arid grasslands of southwestern America, as in this scene in California's Kern County.
The "fine art america" watermark will NOT appear in prints. In addition to prints available here through FAA, the image is also available for rights-managed licensing to publishers and magazine editors (please contact me through this website).
