Description
I was fascinated by the unusually shaped teeth/thorns on this agave succulent. On most agaves, the teeth are usually straight, symmetrically located and not wavy as here. The rusty-red and yellow teeth on this plant are somewhat randomly oriented, look menacing and contrast nicely with the pale bluish-green leaves with fine textures.
This is Agave Potatorum 'Kissho Kan', a slow growing plant with nicely variegated succulent leaves. It is considered a Japanese cultivar and the name 'Kissho Kan' translates to 'happy crown' or 'lucky crown.' Agave Potatorum Kissho Kan bears yellow blooms that grow on a long stalk like all other agaves.
