Glorious, fleeting first light illuminating a row of wildflowers under a Desert Ironwood tree (Olneya tesota) at Joshua Tree National Park. The wildflowers are Brittlebush (Encelia farinosa), Desert Dandelion (Malacothrix glabrata), Tidy Tips (Layia platyglossa) and Arizona lupine (Lupinus arizonicus). Thanks to Sonie Sampson and Steve Mudge of Facebook’s California Native Plant Society group for help with identifying the tree.
I arrived at this pre-scouted location well before twilight, in the wee hours, composed the scene and waited for the sunrise. At first, the sunlight was barely noticeable, and then it gradually illuminated the landscape.
