A Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) in breeding plumage, looking for breakfast along my beloved Los Angeles River.

I’d like to dedicate this image to Lewis MacAdams, who passed away on April 21, 2020. He was the founder of Friends of Los Angeles River (FoLAR) and pioneered the movement to restore the LA River to its original glory.
