Description
Baby-blue colored Many-flowered Stickseed (Hackelia floribunda) wildflowers shimmering in morning light at the edge of a meadow in Glacier National Park in morning light.
The plant is native to much of the western half of North America, in Canada and the Midwestern and Western U.S. It is most often found in areas which are wet during springtime, such as meadows as in this picture, wetlands, and riparian areas. It is a lush biennial or perennial herb with hairy stems reaching a maximum height of about 3 feet. They emerge as a leafy clump, surrounded by many smooth lance-shaped leaves. Each flower has five lobes with petallike appendages at their bases.
