Description
Meditation Gardens, Self-Realization Fellowship, Lake Shrine, Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles County, California. B&W rendition
The Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine was dedicated by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1950. Many thousands of visitors come each year to enjoy the scenic beauty, serenity, peace and tranquility of this spiritual sanctuary, and to meditate. The ten-acre site, with its gardens and natural spring-fed lake, is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including swans, ducks, koi, and trees and flowers from around the world. The grounds include a Court of Religions honoring the five principal religions of the world. Seen in this photo are two swans in the central lake at the Meditation Gardens.
I also have a color version of this image in my collection. I like this B&W rendition because it crisp, clean and striking. There are no color distractions in B&W. It is all about light, shadows, tonality, lines, form, shape and texture.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
