Oceanfront in Santa Barbara, California, Christmas Eve 2013. It was a glorious day, with blue sky, 75 degrees F (24 Celsius), slight breeze, people enjoying the weather, water skiing, kayaking and fishing from yachts, and a school of Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis) putting on a show (seen near the bottom in this photo).

Santa Barbara is a year-round tourist destination renowned for its heavenly Mediterranean weather, beaches, postcard-perfect scenery and Spanish architecture with red tile roofs, as in this photo. It has some of the world's most beautiful, clean and uncrowded beaches. Situated on a south-facing section of coastline, the city lies between the steeply rising Santa Ynez Mountains (background in this photo) and the Pacific Ocean. The south facing orientation allows for Santa Barbara to enjoy great weather all year long. The average temperature in is in the 70 degree range year round. The beaches are pristine with long stretches of sand as far as the eye can see along the coastline. Beachfront homes are expensive, though, selling for $4M and more!
