This is the Los Angeles National Cemetery in late afternoon light. The part of the Cemetery in this photo shows the graves of soldiers who served in World War I.
The Los Angeles National Cemetery was dedicated on May 22, 1889. Interred on its 114 acres are war veterans from the War with Mexico (1846-1848), the US Civil War, Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq War and Afghanistan. An annual ceremony commemorating the birthday of Abraham Lincoln is held at the cemetery on or near February 12. The cemetery's annual Memorial Day program draws several thousand attendees each year. The chapel at the cemetery was renamed the Bob Hope Veterans Chapel on May 29, 2002 (Hope's 99th birthday), in celebration of his lifelong service to American Veterans.
The cemetery is located on beautiful rolling hills, with beautiful lawn and gorgeous oak trees in west Los Angeles. Seeing row after row of gravestones is quite moving because you are looking at the remains...
