Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

This is an early morning view of the Los Angeles River, an urban wildlife habitat.

The LA River has been undergoing an extensive rehabilitation in an attempt to return it and its wildlife to the original glory. The Army Corps of Engineers, with support from the Federal government, the city of Los Angeles and the state of California, has been developing an extensive plan to transform two segments of the river stretching 11 miles in length into green space for natural habitats for wildlife by restoring wetlands that have been lost to urban sprawl.

This picture shows one segment of the habitat, with a Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) looking for breakfast in early morning light a few years ago. What is amazing about the habitat is the variety of plants, grasses and trees, and so many shades of green!

As in some of my LA River photos, the dominant aspect is the habitat, with the wildlife occupying a small part of the view.
