Description
A congregation of American Avocets (Recurvirostra americana), Short-billed Dowitchers (Limnodromus griseus) and Willets (Catoptrophorus semipalmatus) on a beautiful January morning, Newport Backbay, Newport Beach, California. This is a monochrome (B&W) version of my color photo.
I just love watching shorebirds in gentle morning light, after their breakfast. They are so much at peace, some of them standing on one foot (!) while resting the other, some with their beak snuggled in their soft feather, some occasionally dozing off, some occasionally flapping their wings. There is such a sense of peace, harmony and tranquility.
