The Broad Museum is the newest contemporary art museum in downtown LA and houses the philanthropist Eli Broads art collection. It has a honeycomb-like exteriorand houses 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art.
According to a recent report, millennials are flocking to the Broad Museum. The average visitor age is fourteen years younger than the national average for art museum attendance in the U.S. The appeal starts with colorful edgy art, such as Jeff Koons' glaring, gold-hued sculpture of Michael Jackson and his chimp, Bubbles, and Takashi Murakami's psychedelic-looking, dancing mushrooms. The museum is also located downtown, increasingly an entertainment and nightlife hub. And, to top it all, the admission free.
